Power generators do not sell power directly to Retail Electric Providers, this ensures that REP’s have equal and fair access to the energy market regardless if they own electric generation plants.
  • There are 5 major Transmission & Distribution Service Providers involved in the de-regulated market in Texas 
  • ONCOR (North Texas, West Texas, East Texas)
  • CenterPoint (Reliant – Houston Area)
  • AEP/CPL – American Electric Power (South Texas primarily)
  • TNMP – First Choice (North Texas, and some Houston area)
  • AEP/WTU – American Electric Power (mainly West Texas)
  • Their primary job is to ensure the delivery of electricity to customers.
